About Jake-Jake has been a part of the Bodyplex family for 4+ years. He has his Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and is a Certified Personal Trainer by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He plans to pursue his Master's degree in Strength and Conditioning. Jake teaches elementary physical education and his love for teaching fitness and healthy habits extends to adults as well. He has competed at the national level in Olympic weightlifting and would love to share his passion and knowledge for fitness with you to help you achieve your goals.

At BodyPlex Oakwood, we are honored to work with some amazing members. Meet Jim Fitzgerald. In his words-
"I retired nearly two years ago from full time employment after turning 60 and this gave me an opportunity to take an assessment of my fitness state. For five years prior to retirement my job involved a heavy travel schedule both in the US and overseas, which meant eating out at restaurants constantly, sitting in hotel rooms and airports, not exercising. A real low point came in 2015, during that period I was out on business travel for over 40 weeks, often with trips 14 days in duration. Although I have been a member of Bodyplex for at least 10 years, and used the gym regularly until I started traveling extensively, and I had been relatively fit and active in trail running and even did a technical mountain climb of Mount Rainier in Washington state, this all changed. With my diet, lack of activity and travel schedule I rarely used the gym for that five year period and needless to say 45 minutes on a hotel elliptical won’t get the results needed, so I gained weight and lost strength and overall fitness. Upon retirement I committed to a gym routine of five to six days per week with weights, cardio and spin classes and began to make some progress, but it seemed slow and I began to think that maybe people can’t improve fitness much over 60 years of age. Last year following one of Bodyplex owner Jim Harris spin classes, he recommended I purchase and use a My Zone heart rate monitor to track my results and set some challenge goals. Jim also spoke of the importance of diet as an element of a fitness lifestyle. I took Jim’s advice to heart and worked out diligently and improved my diet significantly, as a result a year later I dropped almost 25 pounds, my strength and fitness levels are equivalent to what it was 7 years ago, and I am not done with trying to improve my fitness level!

I have learned at least two things from this experience. First, anyone can improve their level of fitness if they are committed and not lose faith if results at first are slow in coming, keep at it and try a different approach and constantly try to take personal performance to the next level, and results will come. The second is that Bodyplex is really a special place, Jim, Tiffany, the class instructors and the entire team are are great people and well qualified to lead members in fitness improvement. I credit the Bodyplex team with showing me the way to make progress and achieve real gains- Thanks Bodyplex Team!"
