Shout out to
a Founder Club member of Bodyplex, Lake Oconee!
Michael Kelley competed in the 2017 National Senior Games held in Birmingham Alabama on June 6th and 7th.
The NSGA exists today as a non-profit organization dedicated to motivating active adults to lead a healthy lifestyle through the senior games movement. The Games, a 19-sport, biennial competition for men and women 50 and over, is the largest multi-sport event in the world for seniors. Athletes that meet specific criteria while participating in the State Senior Games qualify to participate.
Mike competed in the 50 yard freestyle swim for age group 70 to 74 and finished with a time of 33.58 seconds, where he placed 9th! Then he competed in the 50 yard backstroke swim at a time of 34.33 seven seconds and he placed 15th in that event.
Placing 9th and 15th in this National Event with those times and at that age group is awesome and we at Bodyplex are so proud of Mike Kelley.
Mike is one of our Founders Club member and is a very active member in the Knights of Columbus, serves on the board for the first call pregnancy center and is a volunteer track and football coach at Gatewood!
But he also has an impressive Track and Field history with accomplishments while at Florida State University.
* 1968-69 All-American hurdler
* 1968 Olympic track qualifier for the 110m high hurdles.
* Member of the Florida State Hall of Fame and State of Florida Track Hall of Fame
* Held a world record for 7 years in the combined time of the 110m high hurdles and
the 400m high hurdles in one day.
* US record in the US Masters in the 35-39 year olds in high hurdles.
And now he can add to his accomplishments that he is a one of the best in The Games of 2017 National Senior Games!
